AHAB Sirens Reportedly Heard up to Two Miles Away

MONTESANO, Wash. – The Grays Harbor Emergency Management Agency says they’ve had positive feedback so far from the state’s test of the All Hazard Alert Broadcast Sirens. Deputy Director Chuck Wallace tells us; “I got a Central Park, they said they heard it, and then someone just called me from Hogan’s Corner they’re about two miles away from the one at the High School in Ocean Shores they said they heard the siren and understood the voice.”
Wallace said it’s important to remember that the sirens are meant for outdoor notification within a 1 mile radius depending on topography and weather. “If it’s strong winds, or storm season, it might be tough to hear.” Businesses and homeowners should have a NOAA All Hazard Weather Radio for indoor notification.
