The 2009 season will see a number of firsts for the fast high banked 3/8's mile dirt oval considered by many as the top facility on the West Coast. The new Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Dirt Series will debut for the first time ever west of the Rockies, for a two day show at the end of Speedweek Northwest on July 17th and July 18th during the running of the 3rd Annual Fred Brownfield Memorial race. You will see the top ASCS drivers in the country battle the best that the Northwest has to offer. The Rolling Thunder Big Rig Racing Series will hit town on July 25th, this event will see the Big Rigs run on the dirt for the first time ever in the state. This is one show that fans will not want to miss. The Warriors of Dirt Late Models will grace the Raceway for two shows, the first on June 20th and the second on August 29th.
The highlight of the year as always will be the BIG E Weekend on Labor Day Weekend, staring off on Saturday, September 5th with another first, the North West Wingless Sprint Cars Series debuting at Grays Harbor Raceway for the first time. Sunday, September 6th will see the ASCS Northwest Region event named the Night Before The Big One along with the Ford Focus Midgets and on Monday, September 7th the race everybody waits for all year along, the World of Outlaws, featuring the best 410 Sprint Cars Drivers in the world.
Other highlights include the two day ASCS Northwest Region event on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday May 23rd and Sunday May 24th, this will be a big tune up as the top ASCS drivers in the Northwest will have their only stop at GHR before the National event in July. The 10th Annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals will run on Friday July 31st and August 1st, , that will see the top Modified drivers on the West Coast vie for the biggest Modified event in the Northwest. 2008 Modified Nationals Champion and defending Grays Harbor Raceway Champion Blair Shoemaker will be looking to make it two National wins in a row, as he became the first local driver to ever win the Nationals. The annual Cut Rate Hobby Stock Challenge will run during the fair, Saturday August 8th along with the Sportsman cars from St. Helen's.
Triple X will be the class sponsor for the Ford Focus Midget Division at Grays Harbor Raceway, which will be referred to as the Triple X Ford Focus Midgets.
As part of their sponsorship, Triple X will give a new chassis away at the 2009 Championship Awards Banquet, to be eligible to win the chassis, competitors must run a Triple X sticker on their car, finish in the top ten in points or compete in 80% of the scheduled races and attend the 2009 Championship Awards Banquet.
