Hoquiam Police Arrest Swimmer

HOQUIAM, Wash. – Police escorted a man to the hospital for possible hypothermia after he attempted to flee by swimming up the middle of the Hoquiam River yesterday afternoon. Officers recognized the Neilton man as having felony warrants when he attempted to run and jumped into the river around 4. After about an hour of swimming and treading water in the Hoquiam river he became very tired and cold and surrendered. Hoquiam police said even this time of year, the river is very cold.
