11 Year Old Hoquiam Boy Struck While Riding Bike

HOQUIAM, Wash. – An 11 year old Hoquiam boy sustained lacerations to his head when he was struck by a vehicle in Hoquiam yesterday. Hoquiam Police say it is not yet known if the boy was riding his bike in the unmarked crosswalk on Emerson Avenue near Grant street when the 1998 Honda 4 door struck the child, who was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was transported to Community Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The Hoquiam Police Department reminds parents that the city requires the use of helmets by children under the age of 18, and that the Crime Watch program offers free helmets to families that cannot afford them. The investigation into yesterday afternoon’s collision continues.
